Memorable Menus for your Wedding

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

When I suggest serving a memorable meal at your wedding I am not talking about breaking the bank in top of the line steaks and hosting nine courses.  I love when couples serve meals that have history along with them. An example of a Memorable Meal – Bubbly Bride style would be: thinking back to when you first met and went on your first date, or the delicious food you ate the night you got engaged!

I remember 6 years ago my first date with my husband was spent at a local Chinese restaurant in the area.  Although Chinese food might not be a typical meal served at a wedding, it will mean so much more once you let your guests know why they are eating that certain meal.  I would offer egg drop soup, fried rice and a yummy chicken dish!

Maybe you were engaged after a laid back evening in your apartment with simply ordering pizza and a movie.  A way to tie this meal into your wedding, is offering midnight snacks of your special pizza.  I suggest you or your groom take a minute to tell a short story about your experience why this meal is personalized for your friends and family.  Your guests will be able to tell that you put thought into the event and will be grateful that you shared a part of your life with them!

Simplified Seating at your Wedding

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Imagine with me:

You are one of the first to arrive at a friend’s wedding.  The usher offers his arm to you and asks you: bride or groom side…You kindly say you are with the bride and he walks you to the fifth row!

Do you slide down to the end of the aisle for the next guests, or do you kindly let new guests climb over you and move to the end of the aisle, so you are guaranteed the best seat in the house.  That is what I thought…I don’t blame you, you deserve to get one of the best seats…you were the first to arrive!

An easy way to solve the seating dilemma when it comes to your guests arrival is to rope off the center aisle with fashionable ribbons or have your florist add an arrangement.  With the middle aisle blocked the ushers will simply seat each guest from the outside, and the first to arrive will move towards the center of the aisle and receive the best seats!

DIY :: 911 Kit

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

You spend a year planning each detail down to the color of your nail polish when you get your manicure before the big day.  No matter how many lists you make, you will always have factors of your big day that you can not control.  If you hire a wedding planner to help coordinate the big day, 9 times out of 10 they will come prepared with a 911 kit filled with solutions to most any last minute mishap!

If you are planning on creating your own 911 kit I suggest taking a look into ordering Mojuba for yourself and your groom. Thinking of every event that could go wrong at your own wedding will only stress you out and overload you with worries and “what ifs”, Mojuba: love, life and the unexpected has put together an all-in-one saving grace on your wedding day.

The Bride Mojuba is a darling purse that expands with all of the essentials you could imagine!  Tissues, fashion tape and cushions for your dancing feet are only a few of the many items in your Mojuba that will make you feel pampered and prepared for your day!  Use the camera to document the memories that happen when the photographer may not be looking!

The Groom Mojuba shares the same essentials as the Bride Mojuba but 100% geared towards men.  The shaving kit, deodorant and mints will help you look your best, but the poker sized Mojuba playing cards will guarantee you are ready for the long day ahead of you! (Don’t worry guys you will even find medication for your nervous stomach before you walk down the aisle!)

Unique Wedding Reading

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

You have known each other from the first glance of acquaintance to this point of commitment. At some point, you decided to marry.

From that moment of yes to this moment of yes, indeed, you have been making promises and agreements in an informal way. All those conversations that were held riding in a car or over a meal or during long walks – all those sentences that began with “When we’re married” and continued with “I will” and “you will” and “we will” – those late night talks that included “someday” and “somehow” and “maybe” – and all those promises that are unspoken matters of the heart.

All these common things, and more, are the real process of a wedding. The symbolic vows that you are about to make are a way of saying to one another, “You know all those things we’ve promised and hoped and dreamed – well, I meant it all, every word.” Look at one another and remember this moment in time.

Before this moment you have been many things to one another – acquaintance, friend, companion, lover, dancing partner, and even teacher, for you have learned much from one another in these last few years.

Now you shall say a few words that take you across a threshold of life, and things will never quite be the same between you. For after these vows, you shall say to the world, this – is my husband, this – is my wife.

I DO Stream :: Broadcast your Wedding Live

Monday, May 25th, 2009

There are always a handful of your friends and family that are unable to make the flight or have prior arrangements the weekend of your wedding.  I DO Stream will help you broadcast your wedding live for those who are unable to attend.  They will be able to experience the wedding in real-time with everyone else—from their living room across the country!

If you have already hired a videographer don’t worry, they can work with them to get your wedding on the Internet.  They offer a free guestbook and live chat during the stream for the viewers to interact with each other.  Also, to let everyone know about the event they have complimentary e-vites that will send an email to your guests and let them know easy steps on how to attend the live broadcast.

With the current hype on Twitter, Blogs and Technology in general, I think that this live streaming of your wedding is a pretty cool option to offer your guests that cant attend!  I have never attended a wedding yet that has this option, I would love to hear about the details of your experience with streaming your wedding live!  Was it user friendly for your guests?

For the Bride on the Go :: LUNA Bars

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

If you have yet to try a LUNA bar, I suggest picking one up next time you swing by the grocery!  These nutrition bars are specifically made for women by Cliff Bar and Company.  They recognize that while the Cliff bars are great for men, women are looking for less calories, specific nutrients and a tastier product!

Check out a quick preview of their philosophy on why they are passionate about LUNA bars:

LUNA is dedicated to helping women meet the specific nutritional requirements to maintain active lifestyles. We take a whole-life approach, trying to embrace healthy living and bring communities of women together. When we feel well-nourished, we are more in tune with ourselves and the world around us.

My favorite part of this line of nutrition bars is the life-isms they offer women on the back of every bar.  There is a dedication written from one woman to another special woman in her life, anyone can go on their website and write a LUNA dedication!  For example, on the bar I am eating this morning the back reads:

“To my mom, for personifying the definition of unconditional love every day of her life and for inspiring me to be a better person every day of mine.  Love you.”  - Michelle , Cambridge, MA

Pick up a LUNA bar next time and give one a try, embrace their life-isms and maybe even write a dedication of your own!  Your quote might be on my next nutrition bar!

Julianne Smith is truly embracing the garter tradition…with style!

I have always insisted that there are some truly unique companies out there and I plan on discovering as many as possible!  I was lucky enough to learn of Julianne Smith, personalized garters for carrying on a long practiced tradition with your own personal touch!  No need to spend time shopping for your perfect garter…simply pick your colors, fabric, style and whether or not you want something special embroidered on it.  Incorporate blue into the garter and you can use this as your ’something blue’ on your wedding day.

This is one of my favorites!  I love the champagne shade and lace combination that they used.

This final garter is not for every bride, but it is a great example of how creative you can get with the options!  If your fiance is a big sports fan of a certain team, I think this would be a fun idea to surprise him with.  During the garter toss at your wedding the last thing he expects to find is a fun garter like this hiding under your dress. :)
