Modern Wedding Invitations :: lowercase fonts

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

As you decide the exact wording for your wedding invitations, do not be so quick to overlook the font style.  Simple details such as changing the front to lowercase can create a much more modern feel and change the style of the invitations. This change in font gives your invitation a not so formal feel and tells your guests to expect a fun modern wedding.

I suggest finding a font or two to call your own, and carry it throughout the save the dates, invitations, programs etc.  This will keep a consistent feel with all the paper for your wedding.  Looking back over all of it, you will love the way the lowercase flows together.  Also combining lowercase print and script will add a unique look that your friends probably weren’t expecting!

There are so many talented wedding designers that specialize in fonts and finding one that fits your personality as a couple.  I highly recommend working closely with one to create invitations that you will be proud to send out as a sneak preview to your wedding.

Strut Down the Aisle…in Tennis Shoes?

Friday, June 26th, 2009

When your big day comes and you are running around all morning with your hair and make up—and then spending hours taking pictures—the last thing you want to think of is doing it all in stilettos.  When you are picking out your accessories, worry about your earrings, necklaces and veil, not about shoes that no one will see hiding underneath your long flowing bridal gown.

I completely understand that some women are more comfortable in heels, whether it is for the height or they simply make them feel more confident and sexy.  If you are not one of these women, do not punish yourself!  The goal of the day is to keep you as comfortable as possible, because it is a long day and even though there is so much excitement in the air, if your feet are hurting you will not be a glowing bride!

DIY :: Creative Escort Cards Display

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

A good friend of mine sent me over this creative DIY idea for displaying your escort cards and I fell in love with it!  Whether you are hanging butterflies or another shape to go along with your theme, when you walk in and see this display you can not help but be impressed!

Having 4 different stations allows guests to not get clogged up in a long line when getting into the reception, they can spread around the tables.  Also, what I love most about this is I rarely see anything like this at weddings. You can tell there was a lot of quality time put into this, but the end product is obviously worth it!

Bubbly Inspiration :: Happy Father’s Day

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

Today is the day we celebrate all of the proud fathers that have walked their daughters down the aisle and handed them over to get married, or all of the fathers to be that will one day slow dance the father daughter dance at their little girl’s wedding.

steveholcroft

I remember back to my own wedding and the hours put into deciding which song my dad and I would dance to, finally choosing My Little Girl, by Tim McGraw:

Verse 1:
Gotta hold on easy as I let you go.
Gonna tell you how much I love you,
though you think you already know.
I remember I thought you looked like an angel wrapped in pink so soft and warm.
You’ve had me wrapped around your finger since the day you were born.

Chorus:
Your beautiful baby from the outside in.
Chase your dreams but always know the road that’ll lead you home again.
Go on, take on this whole world.
But to me you know you’ll always be, my little girl.

Verse 2:
When you were in trouble that crooked little smile could melt my heart of stone.
Now look at you, I’ve turned around and you’ve almost grown.
Sometimes you’re asleep I whisper “I Love You!” in the moonlight at your door.
As I walk away, I hear you say, “Daddy Love You More!”.

(Repeat Chorus)

Verse 3:
Someday, some boy will come and ask me for your hand.
But I won’t say “yes” to him unless I know, he’s the half
that makes you whole, he has a poet’s soul, and the heart of a man’s man.
I know he’ll say that he’s in love.
But between you and me. He won’t be good enough!

Friday, June 19th, 2009

One of the simplest drinks to make, and by far the tastiest during a morning brunch!  Whether you are serving this during your bridal shower or for a morning wedding reception, mimosas are a bubbly way to start your day off right!

kimfryewordpress

I have heard of and tasted a variety of recipes to create this delicious drink.  Although they all are yummy, I personally like to keep it simple.

Ingredients Needed:

Orange Juice
Champagne
Orange Garnish

Directions:

1) Fill half of your glass with orange juice

2) Pour your champagne in to fill your glass, lightly stir

3) Garnish with an orange piece

4) Sit back, relax and enjoy!

I hope you are enjoying a Friday Morning Mimosa, celebrating making it through another long week. :)
