Week of Color :: Sapphire

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

This summer, be bold with a bright shade of sapphire throughout your wedding.  This beautiful color looks great against most any color schemes and will make your bridesmaids stand out with all skin tones and hair colors! While the deep blue hue says pure sophistication, it also screams bold and fun.

For a more formal event consider keeping the color scheme clean with ivories, whites and pastels.  If you are hosting a more casual affair and love adding color to your day, consider a hot pink, lime green or orange accent color to spice up the shade.

For Grooms Only :: Surprise Her with a Piano Solo

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

davidpurslow

To surprise your bride to be, even if you are not a musician, why not learn to play a simple love song for your bride.  Whether you want to debut at the ceremony as a special song, or during the reception when the atmosphere is a bit more laid back, your bride will be glowing when she sees you step up to play.

Brides spend at least a full year planning their big day, and they usually have memorized every detail of their wedding day.  What would your bride say if you told her to add a special song into the program but refused to tell her who was singing it or what song?

Your nerves will be running high so keep it simple.  Pick a song that is easy to play either on piano or guitar, whichever you are most comfortable with.  Finally, this suggestion isn’t only for grooms that have taken voice lessons.  My mind drifts off to memories of The Wedding Singer, when Adam Sandler sings “I Wanna Grow Old With You” on the plane at the end of the movie.  His voice was not the next American Idol but you could tell his song was full of love, it made everyone laugh a bit but they all got the point!

Be Confident…Smile big…and Sing from your Heart!

Have you ever had a groom sing at his own wedding? What song did he sing?

Hyatt Hotels & Resorts Launches Gift Registry

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

Most couples today are already established with deluxe pots and pans and have bought their favorite china, so when the time comes to register for gifts—they have to ask themselves, what is left to buy?  I suggest treating yourselves to an unforgettable honeymoon, not missing out on anything due to cost.  Have your friends and family give money towards your vacation—assisting in spa treatments and romantic dinners.

Hyatt Hotels & Resorts has launched the Hyatt Gift Registry, where couples can register online for a variety of amenities, services and accommodations at Hyatt hotels and resorts worldwide!  Imagine dinners on the beach, scuba diving or an anniversary stay at a favorite hotel on a gift registry?  It’s an ideal option for the couple who has everything!

Guests make a contribution towards Hyatt Gift Cards (redeemable at Hyatts in the U.S., Canada and Caribbean) or Hyatt Check Certificates™ (redeemable at Hyatts worldwide). Just like traditional registries, couples are notified as gifts arrive and they can make revisions with just a few easy clicks. Best of all, there are no expiration dates or blackout dates so any extra honeymoon credits can go towards future vacations, spa treatments, etc.
And if you’re planning a destination wedding, couples who wed at a participating Hyatt property (in the U.S., Canada, Cancun, Mexico or Aruba) by June 30, 2010 will receive up to five complimentary nights towards their honeymoon.  (YES, I said 5 Nights!)  You earned yourself a relaxing honeymoon, so take the time off to truly enjoy it!

Have you had a destination wedding at a Hyatt?  What exotic location did you choose?

Wedding Word Fun :: Scrabble

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Get creative with one of your favorite board games, Scrabble!  Have fun with words and use creative designs with the letters to create a common theme at your wedding!  Whether you are asking your girlfriend to marry you with the board as shown below or are using the letters to add some fun to your escort cards, your guests will love the blast from the past with the scrabble letters.

At a more intimate wedding, or a small rehearsal dinner set up the scrabble letters for each place setting as their name cards.

There are so many creative favor ideas, one of my favorite I found are these scrabble coaster sets.

Other games that would be fun to tie in to your big day and add a playful touch are Twister and Candy Land.  Use old classics that everyone knows and can appreciate!

Have you tied in any of your favorite games into your big day?
