OneWed :: How Much is Too Much?

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

How many bridal showers, bachelorette parties, personal showers, couples’ showers and bachelor outings are enough? It is very easy when you have a large group of friends and family to experience numerous wedding events leading up to your big day. While it is exciting for you, it can become a financial and time burden for your friends. Everyone is offering to host a different event, and who are you to turn down great food and gifts in honor of you?

But the question is how much is too much?

Visit and read my guest post OneWed and let them know what you think!

Personalized M&M’s

Monday, April 19th, 2010

How did you personalize your wedding? These M&M’s are a great way to add color and personalization to your big day, along with a sweet satisfaction!

You can head over to MyM&M’s and create your own message on your customized chocolate candy!  These are great because you can order the colors that you want, to enhance the theme at your wedding.  Use them on a candy bar, or place them individually at each place setting – but make sure to do your calculations carefully so you don’t run out.  You can’t just run to CVS and pick up more of these custom treats!

Since these M&M’s are more expensive, possibly using them at a bridal shower is a better option for you. This way you don’t have to order as many M&M’s but you still get the same yummy message across to those you love!  The M&M’s that you see in the photo were customized for my wedding – going along with my pink and orange colors.  They had both my name and my husbands name on them and were placed at each place setting for my bridal shower and on these ice cream bowls that the hostess made.  They were a great addition, that stood out to me and my guests!

Always Say Thank You

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

Throughout the year of planning, whether you realize it or not, you ask a lot of your friends and family members.  You ask them for their time while joining you on appointments, you ask them for their energy, you ask them for their money in the form of gifts and traveling etc and you ask them for an ear to listen to as you discuss, vent or decide on vital details of the day.  Your friends and family offer you their time and energy because they love you and support you, but that doesn’t mean that a simple thank you once and awhile isn’t important!

Don’t let thank you notes pile up. After each shower, bachelorette party or wedding gift comes in – make a point to get a thank you card out within two weeks.  Trust me, your family will notice if they don’t receive a thank you note! Since there are so many online registries, and gifts are ordered and shipped without even going in the store, many friends might wonder if you even got the gift if they do not receive a thank you.

Take a moment at the rehearsal dinner to stand up and say thank you.  The group at the rehearsal is usually those who have been working the closest with the wedding and giving you most of their energy in one form or another – so give a quick speech.  Use specific names and say how they helped you!

Show your gratitude… in the chaos of the year… always say Thank You!!

Second Guessing the Dress

Friday, April 9th, 2010

Trying on too many beautiful white dresses can you leave you confused on which dress is ‘The One’.  I hear a lot about a feeling you get when you put on ‘The Dress’ that is meant for you, and at that moment you know this is what you will be walking down the aisle in.

Personally my indecisiveness leaves me questioning that feeling.  I remember in my search for the dress I tried on a variety of styles, cuts, modern and traditional dresses in all different price ranges.  I easily could have spent over $5,000 on a dress, because when you put a $5,000 dress on you feel as if you are wearing just that, $5,000!  But, in reality my budget left me to be more creative and find inspiration  in a little less pricey but still a breathtaking dress.  With every different style of dress I remember dreaming up a new wedding.  By the end of my dress search I had 5 – 6 different wedding plans all across the country to match the dress style. :)  What I am trying to say is that it is normal to feel indecisive about your dress choice, questioning if it is ‘The Dress’, or if you should have continued to look and try on dresses.

The point comes where you have to choose your dress, and when that time comes don’t look back!

Did you second guess your dress after the big purchase?  How many dresses did you try on before you found your dress?  Finally, do you think that there is ‘One’ dress for every bride?  Let me hear your thoughts!
