How did you personalize your wedding? These M&M’s are a great way to add color and personalization to your big day, along with a sweet satisfaction!

You can head over to MyM&M’s and create your own message on your customized chocolate candy! These are great because you can order the colors that you want, to enhance the theme at your wedding. Use them on a candy bar, or place them individually at each place setting – but make sure to do your calculations carefully so you don’t run out. You can’t just run to CVS and pick up more of these custom treats!

Since these M&M’s are more expensive, possibly using them at a bridal shower is a better option for you. This way you don’t have to order as many M&M’s but you still get the same yummy message across to those you love! The M&M’s that you see in the photo were customized for my wedding – going along with my pink and orange colors. They had both my name and my husbands name on them and were placed at each place setting for my bridal shower and on these ice cream bowls that the hostess made. They were a great addition, that stood out to me and my guests!

The ’Something Blue’ tradition started to represent the couple’s fidelity to each other on the wedding day. Some brides have trouble finding their something blue, hopefully this will help start your creative juices thinking of where you can incorporate this fun color.

If you don’t want to make a big statement with your Something Blue and keep it more low key, I suggest trying blue toenail polish when you get your pedicure. It will be much more subtle than bright blue shoes!

Other Blue ideas are:

Blue flowers in your bouquet, such as hydrangeas

Lingerie with touches of blue

A dramatic blue-red lipstick

Tiny blue details, such as flowers, scattered on a long veil

A delicate pale blue barrette

A beautiful blue Austrian crystal

A blues band at your reception

A silk, midnight blue wedding gown (who says it has to be white?)

Borrowing something on your wedding day expresses a love and honor to that person that you borrow the item from. It is saying not only do I want you to walk me down the aisle or stand by me but I want you as close to my heart as possible when I am marrying the man I have chosen.

Finding your ‘Something Borrowed’ usually involves someone close to you in your family or a best friend whom you highly respect. I tend to see a lot of borrowing jewelery – bracelets, earrings and necklaces. If you need some alternate ideas keep reading and let me know what your ’something borrowed’ will be:

Whoever you ask will be honored to help you out with this. The real question is what do you want to borrow…and from whom!? Another traditional idea is borrowing a gown from your mother or grandmother. Recently as styles have changed I have seen brides (with the go-ahead from the owner of the dress) use an old dress from a family member and take it to a seamstress to redesign it to either a different neckline or style that fits their personality more.

Other options for your ‘Something Borrowed’ are:

Mom’s pearl necklace

The earrings your grandmother wore at her wedding

A bridal clutch for you to keep your belongings in throughout the day

A veil or headpiece

Your sister’s or best friend’s wedding shoes

Your parents’ (or a close friend’s) home for the wedding or reception

Your grandfather’s Bible or book of poetry, have it in the front of the church as a special reading

In the busy schedule of planning a wedding you are still expected to put together pieces that represent the traditional rhyme, something old – new – borrowed and blue. If you are lucky your something old can be wearing your mothers wedding dress or a vintage jewelery piece that your grandmother left you. If you are left without either of these here are a couple of ideas that may help lead you in the right direction:

Don’t think I have skipped Thanksgiving and gone straight to Christmas.. BUT I came across this great DIY wreath and had to share it. I know so many families who spend the weekend following Thanksgiving putting up their Christmas decorations together, and while reading the cb2 Blog this project jumped out!

This is also a great DIY idea for your wedding, get ornaments in your weddings colors and hang them on the doors of the church or reception. An easy way to add decorations to you event!

Supplies:
1. Strong stiff wire that can be bent into a ring. We used aluminum wire gauge 20, about 55” long–due to the scale of the products in the shot, our wreath was rather large, about 28″ in diameter. A wire hanger is also a simple way to go.

2. Ornaments. We used a total of 81 ornaments. For a smaller version, we’re guessing you could make a 14” wreath with about a third of the ornaments depending on how full you wanted it.

3. Strong tape to fasten the ends of the wire ring together or, pliers to twist the ends of the wire ring together.

4. Ribbon to hang the wreath.

Directions:
1. String one ornament at a time onto the wire ring, alternating colors, using smaller ones to fill in the gaps.

2. When the ring is completely covered in ornaments, fasten the ends together.

3. Use a ribbon to cover the spot where the ends are fastened together, and hang!

Tip: best not to go too large in diameter as the wreath could become too heavy and stretch out.

Hopefully I will get a picture of mine when I finish it! Wish me luck!

For all of you just married couples and soon to be wed, plan to send a Holiday card this year to your friends and family. If your wedding is close to the holidays you can combine this holiday card with your thank you note. If you have been married for 6 + months this is a great time to let them know how much you are enjoying marriage and some of the exciting highlights of firsts together! You don’t need to spend a lot of money, the pictures below were taken within 10 minutes in my living room! With a little touch ups and color adjustments they are ready to add to a snapfish photo card and send away.

The great thing about sending these cards out after your wedding is that you still have that never ending excel spread sheet with everyone’s most recent addresses. I highly suggest you keep that excel sheet and continue to update it over the years, it is already a great tool to have for seasons such as this! Have fun with the photos.. let your personality show! Your family will enjoy to begin collecting the new family card from the first year you two were together. Finally don’t forget to keep a copy of each card for yourself, you will be surprised looking back over the years how much of a fabulous story they will tell!
