Bride & Groom Getaway :: Boats

Friday, September 4th, 2009

We have covered almost every land and air getaway that a bride and groom can take.  If you are planning a destination wedding or a romantic ceremony and reception on the beach, you might want to consider a non-traditional getaway on a boat.

Have the boat waiting for you after the reception. If it is dark, have lights hung on it so your guests can waive goodbye as you speed away.  Be aware that your dress might get a little wet (since you are in water), but remember that the event is over…all you have in front of you is relaxation with your new husband on your honeymoon. Have a plan as to where you are driving the boat to and docking, possibly have someone waiting for you to help you get it out of the water or take over so you can get to your hotel room.

Don’t forget a captain hat for the driver and always wear your safety vest in case of an accident! :)

Whether you are escaping your reception on a boat, cruising on land or flying high in a balloon… I hope you get away to a relaxing honeymoon and continue the celebration…you deserve it!

Let us know what grand exit you made from your reception?

Bride & Groom Getaway :: Motorcycle

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

Not all grooms are your typical tuxedo-wearing, limo-renting type of guys.  For those grooms who have a need for speed and prefer the two wheel ride vs. the 4-wheel chauffeur than do what you do best and exit your wedding in style on your motorcycle.

This might not be as ‘green’ as the bike getaway—as grand as the hot air balloon—or as classic as the cars, but this motorcycle getaway will leave you wind-lashed and glad you did it!

Bride & Groom Getaway :: Hot Air Balloon

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

If your wedding leaves you walking on air…why not plan your getaway in a hot air balloon?  Your groom can sweep you off your feet (literally!) and fly away with you—celebrating your new marriage!

This might be a little extreme when you first think about it—but if you are trying to make a big statement and you have the space available—why not?  Research companies around you where you can arrange a hot air balloon ride.  Hopefully there is a venue nearby that you could have your wedding/reception and then have this large balloon waiting for you at the end of the evening as you waive goodbye to your guests!

This unusual getaway will score major WOW points with your guests and let you and your husband start your honeymoon out in a romantic style!

Bride & Groom Getaway :: Bicycles

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

If you don’t picture yourself cruising away in a classic car—try pedaling away on a bike built for two! Since I personally live in the big city and do not own a car I love this idea!  My mode of transportation might be a little bit slower but it gets me around and leads to some really unique pictures.  How often do you see a wedding dress and a tux on a tandem bike leading the line of cars to the reception?

For brides who are trying to keep a ‘green’ theme to help support the environment, having a bicycle getaway will further encourage your cause!

Bride & Groom Getaway :: Classic Car

Monday, August 31st, 2009

This week I am going to spend the week exploring the possibilities of a variety of modes of getaway transportation.

Your most basic and commonly seen wedding getaway is the classic car.  Brides and grooms rent these beautiful cars for their picturesque photos and fun departures.

When will you ever drive a car like this unless you rent it for this one moment.  Talk with your father and grandfather, maybe they grew up saving for one dream car, or inherited a car that is now seen as a classic.  These stories will not only create great memories, but they will add meaning to your big day!
